We’re beyond excited to share with you the completely reimagined MOJO Marketplace.

The MOJO Development team will be working to deploy late Sunday night, March 19th. We’ll be publishing planned outage alerts to our customers between now and then.

As fellow developers, I’m sure you’ve experienced that moment. Giddy with anticipation, working in the dead of night to minimize site disruptions, knowing that the next day you get to present what represents months of hard work to the world.

Exciting? Sure. Scary? A little. Will the new site work? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain. Ensuring that you, our esteemed Sellers are comfortable with new UI/UX is a top priority. Without, you there’d be no MOJO, so a core focus of this project has been to improve Seller happiness. To that end, we want to make sure you know what to expect Monday morning so here are a few of the more impactful UI/UX changes.

New Brand Identity

To further establish ourselves as an authority in the digital goods and services space, we’ve decided to evolve our brand into something more refined. We wanted a more polished brand identity that successfully instills trust and confidence in potential customers, which over time will mean increased sales and revenue for you.

MOJO’s all new identity

Even Jo got a makeover!

Homepage

For many MOJO customers, our home page is their first exposure to the brand. With this in mind, we’ve not only updated the overall look and feel, but also worked to create search prompts to help them find the digital goods and services they need in a helpful, easy to use enjoyable manner. Our novice users will appreciate the embedded guidance, and our pro users will appreciate more direct path to the MOJO products they need.

The all new MOJO home page

Search

In addition to the home page’s assistive search experience, we’ve also completely rebuilt MOJO’s site search from the ground up. To do this, we used Elastic Search and the result is a snappy experience with near instant results. We’ve also restructured the way we tag and categorize our items to ensure customers can quickly and easily find even niche category items.

Our updated search makes finding goods and services enjoybale

Account Center

The new account center is built to be a much more intuitive experience for our MOJO customers. We’ve pulled out highly visited pages and functions to display key data with less action required by the users. Not only will you see your key purchase info and site admin data, but also announcements and how to articles are now visible in a dashboard environment.

Ease of use is the name of the game

Services Dashboard

New in 2017, we’re opening up MOJO Pro Services to include 3rd party contributors such as yourselves. The new account center includes a services dashboard to easily manage your services workflows and interact with customers via MOJO’s messaging system.

Efficiently assist MOJO customers

Uploader

We’ve used modern data & asset collecting techniques to create a buttery smooth upload experience. The new uploader will also accommodate services uploads for any of you who seek to sell your design, development, and digital marketing services through our platform.

Glide through the upload process

Statistics Page

For enhanced reporting, we’ve revamped the statistic page to offer things like, year over year data and per item breakdown of earnings. We’ve even included pacing data so you can plan your next big purchase after a killer revenue month 🙂

Cha-ching!

To maximize our chances at nailing your MOJO experience, we based our design and development decisions on survey data and feedback collected from you. But the work doesn’t end here. As we move forward, we’ll continue to gather your thoughts and feedback to ensure we’re continually improving the Marketplace and maximizing your ability to generate revenue.

Be on the look out for MOJO’s official launch announcements in the weeks to come. We can’t stress enough how proud we are to have built something we feel will dramatically improve your MOJO experience.

MOJO Marketplace is exploding (the good kind) – which means we’re hiring.

We’re currently working on launching an all new MOJO brand, a new website, opening up MOJO Pro Services to 3rd party contributors, and more.

Seller Spotlight: ThemeFuse https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/themefuse/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/themefuse/#respond Tue, 04 Oct 2016 20:42:34 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=953 This month we sit down with powerhouse theme developers ThemeFuse

Who is ThemeFuse?

ThemeFuse is a web design studio specialised in WordPress themes, started initially by 4 friends that were interested in building something new and exciting in web design. At a certain point in time, we’ve decided to start something on our own and make a name for ourselves in the WordPress themes industry, which we thought was the perfect place to start.

Nowadays, our team has more than 15 members, which might seem fairly big for a WordPress themes shop, but it’s the right amount of workforce that we need right now, given all our latest endeavours, like the launch of BitBlox platform- the newest addition to our ThemeFuse family.

How long have you been developing WordPress themes?

We’ve started ThemeFuse in December 2010, when the WordPress theme industry looked very different than where we are now. The 4 of us who started ThemeFuse, combined, have more than 20 years of experience with web and WordPress in particular. We’ve come a long way since, when it comes to the products we release as well as in terms of the team, which as i’ve said already counts more that 15 members.

Why did you choose WordPress as your platform?

Back in 2010, WordPress was the up-and-coming platform when it came to functionalities and support by developers. It was also pretty versatile as a platform and was maintained and supported by a very committed company like Automatic. So the choice was clear for us, all we had to do was bring something new and original to the table with our designs and UX. And we believe we’ve achieved that, from the get-go.

What is your design/development philosophy?

The thing that differentiates us from other WordPress theme shops is the original design style (at least in our eyes) and niche ideas for our themes. For example, we try to cover niche templates like hotels, coffee shops, medical offices, sports magazines, and lawyer offices themes instead of doing the same run-of-the-mill, generic templates that you see for sale on many competing shops.
Also, we have a great team of developers and this allows us to create from scratch a lot of the functioning parts of the theme, without relying on 3rd party plugins like many themes nowadays do. This is a plus in our eyes because the more integrated the theme is the better it will run, the less resources it needs, and generally just feels smoother. Also, the support is offered only by us on our website because we have built everything in the theme and we know everything there is. This is a big plus for our clients because they don’t get sent to other 3rd party developers that built some plugins used in the theme, as this makes it a painful experience for the end user being ushered around from a support desk to another.

What advice do you have for theme developers just starting out?

Our advice would be this one: DON’T! ((smile))) Joking aside, this industry is getting crowded really fast and if you don’t have the enthusiasm, knowledge, skills and ability to create something that leaves all other theme shops out in the dust, then it’s probably not worth it.

What’s your favorite theme on the Marketplace? why?

If we had to pick one of our babies, then it would probably be The Core, because it is our best and most complete theme. It comes with almost 20 different demos and lots of options that make it very easy and fun to use. We keep adding new demos to it and we add new features and functionalities with each monthly update.

What would you say your themes are best used for?

We like to say we have a theme for every niche or industry out there, but the best use of our themes is for sites that need to be more special, that want an original look and a bit of extravagance. We rarely build themes that do not break the mould, or that are too generic / clean / minimalistic.

Do you have any tips for users trying to choose a WP theme for their project?

Sure, we advise all users to test the themes before buying, and we offer a 14 days free testing account for anyone interested in our themes. In our TestLabs area you can play with any of our themes just like you would if you’d bought one. It’s a very transparent way of doing things and we like it when clients purchase our themes after reviewing them in TestLabs. It gives us confidence that what we’ve built is really appreciated for what it is and not a theme bought blind or based on reviews of others.

What do you do when you’re not coding?

We like to spend time with our loved ones, play as much as we can online and offline ((smile)) exercise, travel and generally have fun by being very active.

Head on over to ThemeFuse’s
MOJO storefront and find the perfect theme for your next project.

Project Showcase: Flick Picks with Phil and Tom https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/flick-picks/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/flick-picks/#respond Fri, 23 Sep 2016 02:55:13 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=905 In this series we’ll be sitting down with small business owners who used MOJO Marketplace tools and services to establish their online presence.

This month we chat with Phil and Tom from Flick Picks, a film industry podcast. Both Phil and Tom aspire to film and television careers and dial up insightful and entertaining commentary on the latest Hollywood news.

They build their site in January of 2016 and have been focussed on building their podcast following ever since.

Tell us about your business
Hi! We are Phil and Tom. We host and produce a weekly movie podcast that discusses the latest news, trailers, rumors & reviews. It’s called Flick Picks with Phil and Tom.

Our company is pretty small. It consists of just Phil and Tom. We do everything in house. From recording, editing, mixing and publishing a weekly film podcast to updating our website and social media with fresh and relevant content.

Why did you need a website?
The entertainment industry is fast paced and ever changing. To keep our fans and ourselves up to date with the latest news and reviews we needed a home base. Our website is the perfect medium to achieve this and has been a tremendous help with getting ourselves exposure.”
Which MOJO products did you use to create your site?
We used the WordPress All in One service to jump start our website build. It came with a demo set up service to help with initial configuration. We also purchased the WordPress SEO and Sitemap service to start building search engine rankings.

Want your own? See here: WordPress All in One
Why did you choose WordPress?
We chose WordPress because we wanted something that would look great, but also be user friendly to set up. Neither of us has any experience in coding or web design, but we still wanted something that we could maintain, and still look professional. WordPress has been an incredible help in giving us the tools we need to make our content and website stand out among the rest. ”

Tell us about your experience with MOJO
Difficulties:
“In the beginning there was a learning curve with WordPress. It took some getting used to. But after coaching and watching a few tutorial videos, we were able to really take advantage of it.”

Easy Parts:
“Now it’s pretty much all a breeze. Uploading, scheduling and everything else that you can think of is just simple now, which is just what we need, as a majority of our time has to go into the recording and editing of the podcast itself, which our core business.”

How’s your site doing?
It’s going great! Traffic is increasing and it feels like everyday we are learning new things and implementing them to the site. Still trying to come up with a funny 404 page...”

Any advice for Small Business Owners seeking to build their own WordPress Site?
Don’t be scared, grasshopper. It may seem like a huge mountain to climb, but trust us it’s extremely doable. There are people that can help if you ever need it, but WP is embraced for its user-friendliness. And that was and still is the biggest selling point in our minds.

Project Showcase: This Organic Girl https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/this-organic-girl/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/this-organic-girl/#comments Tue, 23 Aug 2016 03:40:22 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=853 In this series we’ll be sitting down with small business owners who used MOJO Marketplace tools and services to establish their online presence.

This month we’re sitting down with Lisa from This Organic Girl, a New England based green living and healthy lifestyle blogger.

She built her site in December of 2015.

Tell us about your business
I started blogging this past January 2016. It kind of came about by accident. I started sharing healthy living tips on Instagram last summer and I met this blogger online who encouraged me to start my own blog – so I did! My blog is called This Organic Girl and I talk all things green beauty, clean eating and nontoxic lifestyle.

Why did you need a website?
I love doing product reviews, sharing green living tips and posting recipes or ideas for whole foods kids lunches. I have an entire inspiration gallery dedicated to just school lunches – I love how it came out. I also have a page of “What I Am Using Now” which lists all of the current organic and/or nontoxic products I am loving from makeup to deodorant to cleaning products.

I do all my own artwork, pictures, networking and I am currently the only one writing for This Organic Girl. “
Which MOJO products did you use to create your site?
I am using the Semplice template by Sculpture Qode. I love Sculpture Quode so much I actually bought another theme from them as well for a website I am starting with my friend. They have great customer service and have answered AND RESOLVED all of my website building issues.

I also used MOJO’s All in One service to set up WordPress and install Simplice

Want your own? See here: WordPress All in One
Why did you choose WordPress?
I had no idea what host to choose but after Googling reviews I decided to go with WordPress and Bluehost. When I was shopping for themes on my dashboard I saw an option for more themes under MOJO Marketplace which is where I found Simplice. I absolutely love this theme. It is beautiful and simple. ”

Tell us about your experience with MOJO
Difficulties:
“It was definitely hard to set up a website especially with NO prior knowledge. MOJO set me off on the right track and offerd a great jump start for someone like me with no experience. I paid several hundred dollars for the extra help but again it saved me hours and days on the other side. Also I recommend any Themes by Sculpture Quode – they really picked up where MOJO left off and I have them to thank for how my website looks today!”

Easy Parts:
“I had no idea how to build a website and MOJO offers an option to buy the themes in their marketplace fully built. They also offer a 1.5 hour one-on-one “how to” session to help get you started.  I chose to buy both of these and I know it saved me a ton of time.”

How’s your site doing?
My website is doing well. It is 7 months old now and I have already had a few paid commissions plus I get a ton of positive feedback and I have a very deep reference list for companies I have written for or reviewed. I have just over 2,000 unique viewers per month which continues to rise daily. Next up I need a serious tutorial in SEO…and Lightroom.”

Any advice for Small Business Owners seeking to build their own WordPress Site?
Setting up your own website is no joke. I seriously would consider outsourcing next time. BUT if you do decide to go the DIY route, you learn along the way and are better able to manage content and design when you have seen all the ins and outs of how things work.

Want to outsource your website build? Check out MOJO Professional Services and let us set up your site for you!
