This month we chatted with John from My Town Fitness who built his site in May of 2015.

Tell us about your business
We are a fitness center that offers primarily CrossFit. We teach people how to live healthier and happier lives through fitness and nutrition. We currently have 2 full time and 4 part time employees. We’ve been in business 1.5 years.”
Why did you want a website?
We need a website for a number reasons.  Marketing,
communication, basically to tell the world what we do, who we are and where we are.”
Which MOJO products did you use to create your site?
We used the WordPress All in One service. This service includes a premium WordPress theme, so we chose the Lato theme.”

Why did you choose WordPress?
We chose WordPress because we were using Weebly, and it was missing some functionality we wanted to add.  There were some plugins that worked with WordPress, and not other platforms. None of us are very tech savvy, but it’s a work in progress.”
Tell us about your experience with MOJO
It started out great, but once I was cut loose it was a little more challenging. The guy that helped me in learning WordPress was great, but we only had 60 minutes or so.”

Difficulties:
“After that initial coaching, it was hard to get more, and when I did, I was working with someone new that I had to get up to
speed on where I was, so there was a lot of time/energy lost there.”

Easy Parts:
“It’s like everything. The first 90% is easy, it’s just that last 10% of tweaking that needs help.”

Pro tip
While our  60 minute WordPress trainings are comprehensive, many Small Business Owners require even more assistance. Especially when considering your unique situation, needs, etc. May we suggest our WordPress Live service for on-demand WordPress expertise.

How’s your site doing?
Good! Just need to keep on it so my skills don’t get stale.”
Any advice for Small Business Owners seeking to build their own WordPress Site?
Get help. If you’re new to it you will need it.Try to learn as much as you can before you get help though.  Like I said,
the first 90% isn’t too bad, it’s that last 10%, the fine tuning that you need the most help on.”
