It’s no secret that e-commerce has grown exponentially in recent years. As more and more consumers embrace mobile technology and online e-tailers as a primary means of shopping for a multitude of products, due in part to both convenience and competitive pricing, the online shopping marketplace is only going to get more crowded.

That’s why it’s vitally important to have a strong e-commerce marketing strategy in place. With more than 80 percent of consumers conducting online research regarding the products they are seeking to purchase, an e-commerce marketing strategy will help guide potential customers towards your site, rather than that of a competitor. And since nearly 50 percent of consumers begin a product search on Amazon, competitive pricing and an attractive website just aren’t enough.

Developing Your Advertising Campaigns

Plan quarterly advertising campaigns that align with your customer’s interests and capitalize on holidays and events. Advertising that appeals directly to your target market by focusing on their wants and needs will deliver a stronger ROI. Being consistent helps to improve brand awareness, and capitalizing on marketing opportunities surrounding events and holidays captures a larger share of the market at critical opportunities for potentially higher sales.

How to Decide Which Channels to Advertise On

Finding the right online channels to focus your advertising on can make a big difference in maximizing your ROI. Depending upon your industry, one particular channel might serve you better than another, so it pays to research competitors to see where they are focusing their advertising dollars.

Various channels include:

Google—ideal for service providers and niche businesses that can utilize highly targeted keywords.

Google AdWords—ideal for targeting potential customers or clients that might not be aware you exist.

Facebook—ideal for companies that are seeking to engage their audience, as well as attract a local target market. Facebook also allows for very specific targeting and budget controls, making it an optimal marketing tool.

LinkedIn—ideal for B2B companies. Using LinkedIn, you can source leads, engage in networking, and advertise to specific professions, companies or industries.

Keep in mind that you might benefit from cross-channel advertising, utilizing one or more of the above channels to cast a wider net, subsequently improving your conversion rate.

Analyze and Revise Your E-Commerce Marketing Strategies

Consistent analysis of your marketing strategy to determine whether it is effective or if it needs revision is key to ensuring you continue to reach sales goals. A marketing strategy that was highly effective one month can deliver less than optimal results the next month due to changing trends, consumer behavior and competitor marketing strategies.

There are several ways to gauge the impact of your marketing campaign. For starters, installing tracking pixels on your website will enable you to see which parts of your e-commerce advertising campaign are leading consumers to your website, and, ultimately, making a purchase happen. Google AdWords makes this process relatively simple, and other channels, such as Facebook, also enable you to set up conversion pixels.

Second, using analytics to measure your conversion rate from your ads can give you additional insight into your campaign and consumer behavior. Google Analytics offers a suite of tools and products that you can use to improve your engagement, track and analyze website traffic, increase your click-through rate, and much more.

And lastly, you can experiment with different creative content and ads in order to increase conversions through A/B testing on your website. This is the process of trying out two similar ads or pieces of content to see which one works better—conversion pixels and Google analytics can help you track and compare the effectiveness of either ad.

With the data you collect from analytical tools, conversion pixels, and A/B testing, you’ll be able to fine-tune your strategy on a weekly basis, as needed, in order to keep an optimal ROI.

How to Create Killer Marketing Campaigns with WordPress Tools https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/create-killer-marketing-campaigns-with-wordpress-tools/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/create-killer-marketing-campaigns-with-wordpress-tools/#comments Tue, 19 Dec 2017 16:00:00 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=4977

The moment you hear the following phrases, a product immediately comes to mind:

  • Just Do It (Nike)
  • Got Milk? (California Milk Processor Board)
  • Gives You Wings (Red Bull)

This brand awareness is the result of clever, well-planned marketing campaigns that took off, driving sales across the country and around the world. Of course, this sort of success doesn’t happen by accident. Strong marketing campaigns require strategic planning to connect with target consumers, generate leads, and convert leads to sales. Fortunately, the digital transformation has put advanced tools in the hands of entrepreneurs in every industry, leveling the playing field. Today, startups have access to affordable, effective digital marketing features on popular site building platforms such as WordPress.

Secrets to Marketing Campaigns that Flow

Turning consumers into clients has several well-defined steps, which sales and marketing experts refer to as the Sales Funnel or the Customer Journey. These titles refer to the path that individuals take from being completely unaware of the brand to placing an order – and in some cases, returning to place additional orders again and again.

The first step in the Sales Funnel is creating brand awareness. Here, consumers who had no idea your company exists begin to develop an understanding of who you are and what you do. They discover that there is a solution out there for the problems they are facing. Some say this piece is the biggest hurdle for any marketing campaign because it takes research and planning to get your message in front of the right people.

Next, consumers go through the interest phase, as they move from understanding that a solution exists and your company can provide it to actively doing some research. Most choose to learn more online, but depending on the type of product and your distribution channels, some may conduct research in person or over the phone.

The next phase of the Sales Funnel is the pivotal moment of decision. After completing their research, potential customers determine whether or not they will move forward with a purchase. Finally, there is the actual purchase, when prospective customers become buyers.

As consumers go from awareness to purchase, your marketing campaign plays an important role. Your presence and promotion of your solution at each critical touchpoint makes the difference between a sale going to you or your competition. As your prospective customers move through the Sales Funnel, your marketing efforts through social media, email, paid searches, traditional advertising, user-friendly landing pages and follow-up analysis create new clients and keep them coming back.

WordPress Marketing Tools That Work

As you start to plan your marketing campaign, understanding the digital marketing tools available to your business ensures you can take advantage of every possible opportunity. These are a few of the most effective options you can access in WordPress:

  • Constant Contact – If you have a Constant Contact account, the Constant Contact Plugin for WordPress simplifies and automates a wide variety of tasks. Connect with current and prospective customers with a robust email list, made possible with a simple Constant Contact checkbox on your site. You can also edit and add to your contact lists without visiting the full Constant Contact site, build forms, gain thorough understanding of your reach through built-in Google Analytics visualization, and permit users to subscribe to specific newsletters and mailing lists.
  • OptinMonster – Many users rate OptinMonster as the number one lead generation plugin for WordPress. This tool makes creating forms fast and easy, with amazing results that are sure to impress your target audience.
  • Google Tag Manager – Tracking data from all of your advertising sources, such as Facebook and Google, is a complex technological process. Google Tag Manager simplifies this task by making it easy to implement tracking pixels and more on your website without having to hire a developer.
  • Google Analytics – If you aren’t already using Google Analytics, you are in the minority. This is one of the most popular data measuring tools available. Get in-depth visibility into how your site’s visitors find you, as well as which parts of your site interest them most. Best of all, there is no charge to use Google Analytics.
  • Google Optimize – Gaining insight from Google Analytics won’t help your business if you are unable to take action on your results. Google Optimize is designed to make it easier for you to experiment with changes to your site because it offers detailed insight into the impact of every change you make. You can easily run A/B tests for copy, designs, and other strategic details.
  • WP Form Builder Plugin – Once upon a time, you needed at least basic coding skills to create a functional online form for your site. Fortunately, those days are gone thanks to the WP Form Builder Plugin. You don’t need to write any code at all to create the fields you need, require answers for certain questions and send automated confirmation emails.
  • Visual Composer Plugin – Building an attractive, user-friendly website can be intimidating. With the Visual Composer Plugin, you can move forward with confidence. This tool offers you drag-and-drop editing capabilities, along with an array of additional features to ensure your site meets your exact specifications.

Installing WordPress Plugins is easy to do, and the impact on your marketing campaign is extraordinary. Go from good to great with the help of these simple and affordable tools.

4 Quick & Easy Tips to Help You Start Advertising on Facebook https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/4-advertising-tips-facebook/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/4-advertising-tips-facebook/#respond Wed, 22 Nov 2017 16:00:11 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=4078 Facebook has proven to be both valuable and lucrative for many brands and businesses. Not only does it allow you to get insights into your target market, but it also allows you to actually interact with them. Mix those benefits with the remarkable targeting through the advertising platform and you have one of the top ad channels in the world.

Seriously, though…

Let’s face some of the Facebook facts:

So you want to get started advertising on Facebook? Here are my easy tips on to get you started on advertising.

Tip 1 – Set Goals

Each campaign has its own reason for existing and you want to make sure whatever campaign you run is in line with your goals. Most people spring for just a traffic ad. While it’s still a great campaign to run, the key to crushing Facebook ads is being defining your strategy—from your goals to your audience. The broader you get on Facebook, the more you’ll spend with little to no return.

  • So, if you are wanting to push people to purchase, run a conversion ad.
  • If your goal is email sign-ups, use the lead form ad.

Tip 2 – Testing, Testing, 123…

Testing on Facebook proves to be so valuable. Not only can you test the ads themselves through copy and creative, but you can target multiple audiences for the same ad, to find which audiences resonate the most with your business.

All you have to do is create multiple ad sets within a campaign and either send them separate ads or the same one.

Tip 3 – Take Advantage of Targeting

One of the reasons I believe Facebook is far superior when it comes to paid advertising is the targeting. Let’s look at one of my favorites, targeting people’s interests.

Let’s say you run a blog about traveling. You just published a post about your recent trip to Thailand. You can now use that post in a Facebook ad and target those interested in not only travel but also interested in traveling to Thailand. Talk about reaching your desired audience!

Update: As of Sept 2017 you can no longer target job titles, employers, schools, or fields of study. 😭 Wah Wah Wahhhhhhh

Tip 4 – Accurate Tracking

There is nothing more frustrating than putting a ton of effort towards a campaign, watching your spending rise, but seeing nothing in return.

Before you start pulling out your hair, the first thing I recommend checking is your tracking pixel. A tracking pixel (integrated on your website) allows you to measure the effectiveness of traffic sent to your website from Facebook, or other third party platforms. We track for content, purchase, and pageview.

If your pixel isn’t set up correctly, you may not be accurately tracking your success. We recommend placing the pixel on every page that you want to track. If you’re running ads for an E-commerce site, then alter the code to properly track purchases and the amount. A great place to track purchases is on your “Thank You” page (where your customer is sent after a purchase is completed).

If you need help setting up your tracking pixel, we recommend setting up Google Tag Manager, which will allow you to integrate pixels without writing any code. Once you have that set up, use this guide to integrate Facebook’s tracking pixel on your site.

Sounds easy enough right? It is, so you better launch your first ad today! The time is now!

Just remember to

  • set goals for better campaigns
  • test your ads and audience placement
  • take advantage of the amazing targeting through Facebook
  • and accurately track your success

Happy Advertising!

Do I have to Know How to Code to Use WordPress? https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/use-wordpress-without-code/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/use-wordpress-without-code/#comments Wed, 07 Jun 2017 12:00:00 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=2650

Do I Have to Know Code to Work in WordPress?

The answer is no! If you do, it’s a big help. But when it comes to WordPress, sometimes even coders don’t need to code.

Here’s the thing, the team at WordPress has gone out of their way to make website development easy. Many of the best WordPress features (customizable themes, text, menus, colors) are immediately available for you to choose with a click.

Using the Visual and Text Editors in WordPress

However, at some point in your website creation journey, you’ll want to add a WordPress feature that requires code. It’s good to know basic html markup. For example, WordPress offers two types of editors for content on your website. One is known as WYSIWYG, or what you see is what you get, which is the “visual” tab you see below.

using the WordPress visual editor does not require code

This allows you to format text in a similar way to Microsoft Word or Google docs. However, there may be some cases where you want to edit the html of your post. Maybe you need to embed a snippet of code, or edit the structure of a link. In that case, you’d click the “text” tab in your editor, and you’ll see something like this.

using the text editor in WordPress allows you to alter the html directly

The text editor is fairly basic when it comes to coding. However, you can use this as an opportunity to learn some basic html formatting skills as you craft your posts. Check out W3 Schools html tutorial to learn the basics. (Hint: for WordPress editing purposes, the most useful tutorials are basic, headings, paragraphs, styles, formatting, images, and links). It’s pretty easy to pick this stuff up, and it puts you closer to understanding the bigger picture of how websites work.

This advice applies to editing posts and pages. But the reality is, when you need to add a feature to your website, WordPress plugins are the way to go. Whether you’re a developer or not, plugins have been created for just about any purpose you can think of. Most are free. And at that price you don’t want to reinvent the wheel even if you can!

Using WordPress Plugins to Add Features Without Code

Plugins are essentially software that seamlessly integrates with your WordPress theme to add features. For example, the popular Yoast SEO plugin adds a box to all of your posts and pages that analyzes the SEO (search engine optimization) and readability of your content. And this requires no code on your part.

Choosing a plugin for a specific purpose can sometimes be overwhelming. If you’re new to WordPress, we suggest that you get used to the platform first and see which features add value for you. Then, a simple google search can go a long way.

Many themes come with plugins installed already. To see which plugins you have installed, click Plugins in the left column of your WordPress dashboard.

click Plugins from the WordPress dashboard to view your installed plugins or add new plugins

How to Choose a Quality Plugin

WordPress is an open-source software, which means that anybody can develop and publish plugins. There are two quick checks you can make to ensure you choose a quality plugin that meets your needs. (Also remember, you can always deactivate and uninstall a plugin if it doesn’t work, or you don’t like it).

1. Plugin Rating

When you search for plugins on WordPress.org, the first thing you’ll see is the rating. Look for higher ratings, and a higher number of ratings to ensure the plugin is being used, and people like it.

2. Plugin Info

Next, check the plugin info in the lower box of the display card. You can research the plugin author (in this case, it’s the company that created WordPress, Automattic, so that’s pretty reliable). Also, note the number of installs. If a plugin doesn’t have many ratings yet, this can be a good gauge of quality. And finally, the latest version of WordPress the plugin has been tested with. Here, the plugin was tested with the most recent, WordPress 4.8.

How to Install a WordPress Plugin

Installing a WordPress plugin is the easy part, and it requires no code whatsoever. The best way to do it is right from your WordPress dashboard. Click Plugins and Add New (the button right next to the heading that says Plugins). Once you’ve done that, you can search for plugins (searchbar to the right), and click install.

example of how to install a wordpress plugin from the dashboard

Next, wait for the plugin to finish installing, then click Activate. Your plugin will now appear in the Plugins menu of your WordPress dashboard, where you can access and configure settings, if neccesary.

activate wordpress plugin

The other way to install a WordPress plugin is to download the zip file. You may find this on WordPress.org, or a third party site. Just be careful with third party sites and err on the side of downloading official plugins. Free plugins that aren’t sourced from WordPress could potentially open up weaknesses in your site’s security. If you go this route, navigate to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin as shown in the image above. Then, choose the zip file from your computer, and follow the prompts.

Customer Showcase: Island Beauty Habits https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/customer-showcase-island-beauty-habits/ https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/customer-showcase-island-beauty-habits/#comments Thu, 09 Mar 2017 06:32:01 +0000 https://blog.mojomarketplace.com/?p=1458 We had the pleasure of speaking with one of our WP Live customers, Alana, with Island Beauty Habits. Her blog has a unique blend of beauty, health, and fitness advice which was built with the help of WP Live. We want share the story of how one MOJO customer, prompted by a pin on Pinterest about how to start a blog, launched a fully functional site in just 30 days with the help of WordPress and WP Live.

Why don’t you tell us a little bit about Island Beauty Habits and where the idea came from.

I have been a stay at home mom for 9 years and wanted to find the next thing to do. I’ve always read beauty blogs and watched YouTube channels for advice on beauty. I wanted to find something that I enjoyed and I already had a passion for beauty, recipes, and fitness.

Why did you choose to blog about beauty?

That is what I am most interested in and where I believe I have a lot to offer. I know a lot about beauty and makeup and the industry. I am constantly trying to stay on top of the beauty industry trends and since I was already sharing it with family and friends, it was a great topic for me to focus on.

So, I went for it. I didn’t have much experience in the realm of technology but jumped into it right away. I did it knowing that I would get better the more I worked on the site. That is the only way to get better.

That is excellent encouragement to others in your same place wanting to jump into building a WordPress website of their own.

Yeah, it was super intimidating at first but it’s amazing how much I have already learned. There are all of these things that I had no idea about before. It’s been a huge learning curve and I am still learning all the time. It has been fun!

Would you say that beauty blogging is a hobby or do you plan to take it further?

I have plans to take it further. I have already had a beauty supply company reach out to me that allows me to make money promoting their products along with Amazon affiliates. I am hoping to do the same with Sephora as well and want to build up my followers to take it even further.

What was your favorite thing about the MOJO Marketplace experience?

Alana

Creating something of my own.

I would say getting everything up and running. It was exciting to have this thing that started as nothing and I was able to make it into something.

We see that you are working the back end and consistently posting blog posts. You have come that far in a short amount of time.

With the help of WP Live. I was able to call anytime with whatever question I have which has been super helpful.

That is great to hear. That is our goal, to build a product that is helpful.

I’m so glad that I found you guys and feel so grateful for knowing what I know now. I could trust what was being said and knew I can trust you and I know what I need to do. WordPress is where it’s at and where I need to be for my site.

Speaking of WPLive – How did you become exposed to it?

I actually found a pin on Pinterest about how to start a blog and it included steps regarding WordPress. I went through and followed along with those steps and everything just happened so quickly from there. I received an email from Scott who then helped me out by recommending the help of WPLive.

How was your overall experience with WPLive?

I originally had my site set up the same way the theme had it. I then went through and removed the content there and started to replace it with my own stuff. The WPLive reps had a ton of patience and help on how to build the site and with terminology.

It was extremely helpful and I couldn’t have done it without them.

How is the site doing so far?

It is doing great, looking good, and now I am working on promoting myself on social media.

Any advice for people looking to blog?

pablo-4

If you really want to do it and it is something that you are interested in just know it takes time and is hard work. Just be patient with yourself. There will be some high highs and low lows. There will be times where you think you can’t do it and other times where you finally have figured something out.

Be patient and keep at it. Know that there will always be things you can change and things you can improve on.

WP Live offers a lot to help people like Alana looking to start a business, blog, or build an online presence. We are there to not only help build your site but to also assist beyond that in goals such as boosting subscribers. The tech space can seem intimidating but it is amazing how much Alana (and others like her) learned from building her own website. She has improved on everything like working the back-end, posting blogs, and even photography. To see someone like Alana who has used our service to help her build something of her own is so empowering.

Congratulations on the success, Alana! We plan to stay up to date on your blog and it’s growth.
